Who are we, really?

I’ve been doing an amazing study called, “Living Life from a New Source” by Bill Loveless. This 6-week study has been life-changing for me and my husband! Basically it takes you back to the garden and teaches how we were always designed to be totally dependent on God. Yet our world, and even the Christian world, says to be independent (to learn and do), to be self-sufficient, and “with God’s help” be the best Christian you can be. But that’s not truth!

Apart from Christ we can do nothing!  (John 15:5)

Rather, every single day we need to DEPEND on Christ to BE all that He already is IN us...  "Jesus, you live in me, so today will YOU be my patience, my love, my grace in this tough situation, my forgiveness toward that person, my security, my acceptance, etc.

I am now into Bill’s 2nd study on Identity and have had to lift my jaw up off of the floor at all of the many lies I’ve believed, made agreements with, and tolerated! I mean things I’ve believed about myself since childhood! Lies that speak of rejection, not being accepted, loved or wanted. And sadly sometimes certain relationships have “affirmed” those lies. Then my “agreeing” with them has made them “truth.” In other words, maybe I was rejected by certain people, but that does not mean that I am rejected.

In Christ, I am completely accepted!

What I’ve been doing wrong for so long is owning that rejection, blaming myself for making them reject me, and then hating myself for it. What a vicious and exhausting cycle!!

I’m so thankful for Jesus and His wonderful and endless patience with me. My heart swells knowing that nothing, not even my insecurities and my habitual lie-believing, can separate me from His love! Even more than that, I’m so thankful that it is for Freedom that He has set us free! He wants us free, and through this path and process of sanctification He never gives up on us!

At the end of the study we were each given a book mark listing the qualities of our NEW Identity in Christ.  I wanted to share them with you because it's powerful stuff!! So, if you have accepted Jesus as Savior, if you have received His Holy Spirit, then each and every one of these words is for you!

"Therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a NEW creation.
The old has gone, the new has come!"
2 Corinthians 5:17
